Thanks for recording it. I really can't believe they are debating a fictional story. SO much I want to say, but I'm just talking to Gojira about it. Complete silliness.

Trying to handle my JW mom
by KatyMomof2 inmy mom is a recent widow.
she, being a jw does not have means to support herself and does not seek higher education ( because that would take from her studies ).
so, she is living ( sponging off of ) me.

Geez! I'm so sorry! I'm not sure what advice to give other than find some government housing for older people. We lived by a place that was studios, 1bed, and 2 bed apartments starting at $290/month in Phoenix. But yeah, my grandma knows I have no interest anymore, but continues to make comments. I told them we are pregnant with baby #3, and the following day was my husband's birthday, so I needed tofind a younger hubby....she moved on to tell my daughters that "gg and papa don't celebrate birthdays, we have 364 UNbirthdays to be thankful for..." It was supposed to be a sarcastic comment about my "old" (29 lol) husband...just like every year. And sometimes, when they are up there in age, it's not really a possibility to break it to them, TTATT. But good luck with your mom. It's just frustrating when you've been a good parent for your children and the JWs have to get just that liiiiiittle bit of brainwashing attempt in there.

by Gojira_101 inlast week a friend of mine contacted me out of the blue asking if we could have lunch together.
my friend has been studing with the jw's on and off for about 11-12 years i think.
she has told me everytime i see her that she can't wait for jehovah to end this evil world...she can't wait for the new system...the end is so close....etc.. i sent her a message back telling her that i left the jw's and asked her if she had heard that.

On my way into work today,,,,,
by Jomavrick ini was listening to some southern radio preacher giving his sermon.
he was talking about the need to sell out to god and not just say that you love god but prove it.
he then said something that made me laugh - he said " a wife doesn't prove that she loves her husband in the parlor, she proves her love for him in the kitchen".. now i find that hilarious for a couple reasons, what do you ladie's and gents think??

I laugh. I'm a very good cook, and come up with some fun recipes...but I'm laughing because my hubby just brought me a quesadilla as I opened this post. There are SO many other ways for a wife to show her husband love.

Do you go to Kroger/Publix/Wal Mart?
by Iamallcool ini usually shop for most things at wal mart but i have learned some things at publix and kroger are cheaper than wal mart.
if you are conscious shopper, tell me what things do you buy at each store to save some money!
i am thinking about being a member of bj, if you know of any good deals at bj, let me know too.

I avoid Walmart at all costs. We don't have much money at all, so I try to be as thrifty as possible. When couponing, I go to Fry's (Kroger). They sometimes have great clearance stuff and then combined with coupons...or even just matching the right sale with coupons, I can walk out of there with 75% savings. We've moved a bit farther from Fry's now (and don't own a car, just bicycles) and it's getting to summer in Phoenix, so trips are uncommon there now.
Nowadays we go to a place that is just in the southwest call Pro's Ranch Market, that is only about a mile away, they ahve unbelievable produce prices (99c for 10lb potatoes, bell peppers 4/99c, carrots 4lbs/99c, etc, sweet oranges 5lbs/99c, etc), they also make all their own tortillas, fire roast chiles outside, rotisserie chickens over the fire outside (*drool), and have amazingn meat prices every week or two (10lbs of chicken leg quarters for 59c/lb).
I have noticed, when we were shopping at Walmart before kids, we were spending at least $400/month on groceries. We THOUGHT we were getting a good deal, but I know now. And it's just a horrible place to be anyways.

Are you a dabbler in Witchcraft?
by StopTheTears inafter leaving christianity it's common especially among the young to experiment with witchcraft.
some get drawn into it by getting involved with earth movements and back to nature groups.. .
witchcraft is an evil thing.

I can see this is like having a conversation with an Elder. Wicca does not include "passing children through fire". My part of this one is done. There is no point in arguing with someone who won't explain their point and who won't open their mind (and eyes). haha. But good luck to you on your journey to "end" witchcraft

"I'm not a witch, they dressed me this way!"
Ok, seriously, this has to be one of the silliest posts on here. Wicca is a nature-based belief system. A rotation of giving and taking from nature. To say that witchcraft is a horrible thing and leave it at that is very elder-like of you

My grandma is very straight forward. As soon as my husband and I got married (they pressured us into getting married because we were trying to have a baby), they said not to have any babies. So a month later, we told them I was pregnant. As soon as our daughter was a year, they said not to have any more. So we told them right then and there that we are pregnant with #2. And just 3 months ago, she told us that we don't need any more. I have two hands and two kids, that's more than enough. So I told her that I was actually in the process of having a miscarriage as she said that...she shut up, so it was nice telling her I was pregnant this time. :) Kind of a big F U.
I will have more kids, God willing. My husband and I love kids, and our kids love kids. We are good parents. And I'm not in some mind-controlling cult that makes you believe children are a burden lol. It's nice to feel so free. I have always wanted at least 4 kids, so I can't imagine not wanting any. Thank you for all of the congratulations everyone. We are so excited.

So my husband and I have 2 daughters. I've always wanted a whole bunch of kids, yes, even being raised a JW. My grandma is soooo against children. She had two, and didn't come in contact with JWs until my dad and aunt were about 12 and 13. Anyways, she is constantly telling me how I am just letting Jehovah kill my children, and that I really must not love them or the rest of my family. I just smile and ignore it.
Today I had a need to call her. She has me blocked for messages and calls on Skype (yet gets mad when I don't contact her....), so I called her house phone. My grandpa answered the phone, I told him to tell grandma to get on skype...he actually asked why and wanted to know what's going on. Sheesh. I simply told him that we haven't talked in a while.
Anyways, she gets to her computer and video calls us. I have my girls sitting on my lap and have small talk for a bit. It's my husband's birthday today, so I said how "old" he is and that I need to find a younger hubby lol. She then proceeds to tell the girls that we have 364 UNbirthdays (think the 1964 cartoon Alice In Wonderland) and we don't celebrate ONE day in the year. I held my tongue.
Now, the reason I called. I just casually bring up that they will be great grandparents for a third time! I just took a test yesterday (knew for a while, as females do for the most part). The camera was facing my grandpa for the most part. It took him a second to register what I said...then he gets a big ol' grin. (He always wanted lots of kids.) My grandma in the mean time, is trying (not too hard) to say "oh" in a fairly happy voice. Then she asks if I'm happy. I laughed hard for a minute and then told her that I'm am SO excited, and so is my husband.
I just find it funny (and horribly sad) how children are so looked down upon in the cult. It's such an amazing miracle. Especially being the one carrying this growing human...it's awesome! My mom and dad are the only ones from either side of the family to have children. My brother, sister and I have NO cousins. My mom's mom had 3 children, and my dad's mom had 2. It's such a tiny family, which is ok when it comes to the disowning and shunning, since it's not 100 family members down your throat. But still, it was pretty lonely growing up. I just can't wait to tell them about a fourth in a year or two ;) Should be fun.
I suppose this is just a post sharing my experience this morning, nothing that exciting or *news flash* worthy. :) But thanks for reading!
